Mercedes 280SEpretty beat looking, but this MB was just about the top of the line in 1970. so fucking classy, even in this condition.
Ford Torino, 1970very good condition, and i always liked this bodystyle. something is off though. the front grille/hood belong to the Torino GT, the trunklid with bare locking hole and lack of trim between the taillights say base Torino. the interior is mid-level Torino. probably not quite as stock as the ad says.
1967 Pontiac Catalina coupealways loved this year of large Pontiacs. again, something's off. the rear is missing trim, the wheelcovers are probably WalMart and the velour interior is totally wrong. this year would have had a nylon cloth or an all vinyl called Morrokide by Pontiac. it would have been classier than this cheap seat cover material. it should have whitewall tires too, not white letters. could be stunning though. way too much money for what was the cheapest large Pontiac that year, without many options too.
1960 Lincoln convertible. this is the year just before the famous suicide door Lincoln of 1961. these cars used to be looked down on for decades, in the shadow of the more classic suicides, but in the past 10 years they've become very collectible. this convertible will probably sell for at least $45,000 by the time the auction is over. i covet this car! one of the very few convertibles designed with that reverse slant C pillar. the rear window is electric and retracts into the car independently of the roof itself. just gorgeous. one of the largest, if not THE largest, unibody car ever built. the suicide door Lincoln that followed was at least a foot shorter and 1,000lbs lighter. Neil Young has a white one like this that he has converted to electric power!!!
1969 Volvo 142very cool basic Volvo. not the most attractive Volvo, but honest in design. the interior was considered pretty luxurious for a medium priced import back then. check out how clean the engine is! with a little bodywork, this car could be SO cool, and probably last another 250,000 miles without much work if the engine is as good as it seems in pics.
1958 Edsel Citation convertible. this is the JEWEL tonight, and the price confirms it. this is the top of the line Edsel from the first year, and the only year there was a Citation model. from what i can tell it's absolutely perfect. i'm sure it's been restored, didn't really read everything. the interior, with it's asymmetrical upholstery is absolutely correct. the rear window is wraparound plastic-very few cars ever came with this type of convertible roof also. check out the instrument panel. the speedometer is like a compass, and it's horizontal and spins around with the speed numeral being the one in front. the transmission selector is in the middle of the steering wheel with pushbuttons for PRNDL! i'm surprised it doesn't have power windows and a power seat. i think most of them did, but it's just spectacular. the Edsel was only made in '58, '59 and part of '60. the '58 model was built to supposedly fill the niche between Ford and Mercury. the lower two versions were built off the Ford body and the top 2 were based on the larger Mercury. they had powerful V8 engines. they also had completely different bodies each year, although most people didn't realize the '58s were that different from the '59s. the larger ones in '58, the Citation and Corsair were only built the first year. by the second year, they were only selling the smaller Ford-based Edsels, the Ranger and Pacer. familiar names!! by 1960 they were down to just the Ranger, and they were barely distinguishable from Fords, with no real body changes except for odd vertical taillights.
