I love this truck. The Fx4 model, for example, is actually intended to go off road, it comes with smaller 17 inch wheels for more sidewall on the tires. If you've ever gone offroad, you know that sidewall is almost as important as the actual tread on the tire. Although the old limited slip worked for 95% of the situations, if you REALLY went off the beaten path, it couldn't transmit enough torque to both wheels. Problem solved with the new locker. yes, Brian, I know. Your dad's truck(2005?) has one. Although I HATE traction and stability control programs(they're a bit aggressive...) the one in the F-150 has a bunch of extra sensors in it and has trailer sway control AAAAAND the integrated trailer brake controller is synced up to everything. I'm still laughing my ass off about this, but apparently the Tundra was porpoising during the 7000 pound tow test due to the weak chassis. If that's true, then I'm afraid of what 10,000 pounds would do, or even more.... The 6 speed is a very welcome feature. With the 4 speed in our truck, it has more than enough grunt up to 45 in first, but upshift to second and it's just out of torque and speed doesn't come along very quickly. I'm almost tempted to say the van is faster from 45-80, due entirely to the fact that the 4.10 allows it to stay in the powerband. The 6 speed cures it all by adding gears so you're always in the powerband. Brilliant. Still even more amazing: The F-150 is faster towing 7000 pounds uphill than the dodge with the hemi. I want to see a 7 speed automatic in the SuperDuty trucks soon....
Sorry about the rantish format of this post, but honestly, Ford got something RIGHT for a change!
