Since Ford is going to wave good bye to International, they have been working on their own diesel. The 6.7L twin-turbo Scorpion's power targets are at least 390 hp and 720 lb-ft of torque. One wicked turbodiesel that should get 3 mpg better than the Navistar 6.4. More power and better fuel economy. Win-win!!!

That is nothing compared to what I have seen on some diesels. There are some Duramaxes and Cummins enthusiasts who have tuned their engines in excess of 1500 lb-ft at the wheels. There is one I have seen with over 2000 lb-ft at the wheels.

2000 torques makes me wonder how much they did to the internals of the engine, the transmission, the size of teh differentials.....

So essentially Ford hijacked the best parts from the 4.5L and the 6.6L Duramax?

If this makes the claimed numbers it might become a contender, however I would never even think of owning one of them for at least the first five model years.

I will stick with the 6.7 I-6 cummins, tried and true from a company whose only focus is producing high quality diesel engines.

The 6.4 Powerstroke is certainly a contender .. it's super clean, super quiet, high tech .. the only reason it's not the top contender, is do the reliability issues .. which are no worse than the reliability issues of a Dodge tranny.

But Ford knows how to build a motor, so I'm fairly confident this will go off without a hitch.

Kudos to Ford for building their own diesel.

It also consumes more fuel than the Duramax and Cummins, and some are even having big problems with blowby, i.e. fuel entering the oil.......

6.4 Powerstroke may be more quiet than the Cummins, but the Duramax has it beat. And the blowby issue is not just a problem, it's a disaster waiting to happen. New engine is a definite when that happens.

Glad to hear Ford is growing a pair finally, but there's nothing saying it will bring Ford back from the proverbial dead.

Cummins PWNs Duramax when it comes to power delivery IMO. Ram3500 has the 4.10 gears versus the Silverado3500with the 3.73 gears... Makes all the difference in the world in towing.

The Chevrolet has the rock solid Allison and its GVWR is 1300 lbs more with taller gearing.

Isuzu got all of them beat in the light commercial realm with the 4HKI/6HKIs. the 4H is a compact 5.2L Turbo 4 and the 6H is a massive 7.8L Turbo 6. The 6H can make 300hp/860tq a bit more brutish than Caterpillar's C7. I really wish Chevy had a Colorado with a 4HKI-TC in it....

I love Cab Forward trucks, I feel too weird in a normal truck. I do want a Chevy W-Series Crew Cab Diesel. I'd love it for recreation, it'd fill that astro van void in my heart quite nicely XD.

The C7 is capable of 350hp/860TQ so both engines are close, but the cat only displaces 7.2L. The 4Hki is nice though, 203hp/501tq 5.2L

C7 is normally rated at 300hp at 2400RPMs while the 6H is rated at 300hp at 2200RPMs, the power band is flatter on the 6H, it's what i meant about the 6H being "a bit" more brutish than the C7.

Where did you find the 4H with 501tq? I mean I figure it could do that but from the Isuzu site it was like 441tq or something like that. When I get a chance I'll take a pic of it.
