i can hear a fife & drum corps from my house-must be the parade in town. there is a gathering on the town green laying wreathes at the various war memorials, much like memorial day. i have a 13 star flag hanging on the porch-it's not original but it's a replica from about 100 years ago. last night i rode my bike down to the beach and watched the fireworks. to me, night-time town/public gatherings are so much more interesting than day time ones. riding a bike at night is so cool too. it reminded me of the eclipse scene in Stephen King's Delores Clayborne, and awesome book if you haven't read it:
Happy Independence Day to you too, my friend. It's really dry here so fireworks are banned. It's been kind of sad that the sky isn't lit up, but I've seen a few people be able to get a few shells off before the cops come shut them down.
Late to this thread =/ Busy weekend. Happy belated 4th. Totally agree art, love the night and all it's aspects. Fireworks are banned in most of our cities, but people still get them anyways and just duck out when the cops come. Although in some cities they aren't banned, so some friends and family went to this vantage point where we looked over the city and watched the fire works pop up, almost seemed like I was watching a video game, so interesting to see fire works like that from a distance.
