yes, another chop of the fugly BMW 5 series GT. this is a top-of-the-line Buick, a high-speed, high-mileage, hybrid hatch, another segment buster..... instead of a sweepspear side swageline, i made the sides slightly 'tubular' in a way that Buick has used on various cars from the late 50s on. i actually had the '71-'73 models in mind, and i wanted to give it a low, sleek appearance, in contrast to the tall and short profile of the BMW. the rear hatch could have a trick electronic opening to perhaps fold the hatch at the glass/metal line to make it lower for a full opening in a garage perhaps. maybe a glass rear window inside the car also, to keep the hatch area separate and to make the car quieter.

makes me think a bit of the new X BMW has, looks too good for Buicks of today, but still really nice. Intersting tail light, what's the idea on the clear section where it seems like the body paint can show through? I like the look I would love to see it more explored.

good eye! i modified the new Lacrosse's taillights to use on this chop. i thought about making them clear, Lexus-RX like, as i did on the Regal Grand National chop i did, but didn't want to do the same thing again. it was my idea, that somehow, that portion of the light, the turn signal/side lights, could be covered with a type of plastic that could pick up body color, but be clear enough to let the amber lights shine through. that way they wouldn't look so bulky, but would still be highly visible when lit. i'm not sure if that plastic actually exists though, lol.

here's the Grand National again, with its sort of 'ricer' taillights...

I don't know, I just love seeing that grand national. It's just bad ass. I really really like the ideas you have for the tail lights. I think it's completely possible. There are TONS of things manufacturers can do with lights and BMW seems like the only one that is willing to explore the possibilities. I think your idea is completely feasible and wouldn't be surprised if a company starts doing it in the next 5~10 years.

I can see that, but there are a lot of cues that scream GNX on it.
