The system they've come up with injects a urea solution into the catalytic converter. Urea is a nitrogen-rich organic compound that was originally isolated from animals' urine but which is now made industrially - for fertiliser - by reacting ammonia with carbon dioxide.

It is about time, ford has been draging behind on the small diesel. but doing the math real quick 337HP 420TQ 15.6/20.4MPG.

I hope that it can produce numbers better then that. I want them to succeed with this. Competition in this market will be great, still though the new duramax sounds better

Ford has been developing it. You should have known ever since International sued them for wanting to make a small diesel.

doesn't Dodge also have like a 2.8 diesel of some sort? I wish toyota would bring over their 2.2 (i think it's 2.2) diesel.

Actually, Navistar sued Ford for divulging information about the 4.4 because they didn't have the right to, according to their contract. To Navistar made it into a huge deal, for no reason, and it held
everything back one year. That's why it won't be coming unil the second year of production for the new F150.

As for the power.. it was last reported it would be making anywhere from 500-550 torques... now it's 100 less? what's going on there?

Cummins makes a 2.8, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0L 4 banger diesel and MB has the 2.5 and 3.7 that dodge should have access to

I think that the power issue was wishful thinking from less informed persons.
